I ran across this nightforce ballistic software that loads intoa little pocket pc and you load your firearm and cartridge specs into it and save them andit spits out specifics for range elevation windage at elevation and atmosphere. So Im thinking, "what I have to carry a book with me in the field?" I like it and all the load data is readily available from their website I have printed out cheat sheets for elevations from 500 ft to 10000 ft. I was keen on the bonded bear claw but then our illustrated guvner banned lead in my neighborhood so I tried out the spensive stuff. this rifle is an auto loader and I am not confident about getting the pressures right so I went with factory loads and really cant be happier with the results from this load. I have been experimenting with various factory loads and settled on the Federal Premium Vital Shok. I have seen that same thing done very useful. Eliminates figuring out some of the elevaton MOA's in the field. What has also been helpful for me, once you get it sighted in, elect to stay with the same round, and get it "all figured out," is attaching a cheat on the inside of your rear scope lens cap. I'm thinking yotes at 6 to 800yds for starters might be fun. between the two programs I am picking up all the "Theory" and its geting time to get out and test it out. I shoot 180gr, Vital Shok with the barnes Triple X "Condor safe"Īnd my rifle seems to like them as well or better than anything else I have tried. I went to Federal Ammo and downloaded their ballistics software which gives all their specs for loads.
